Here’s something a bit different. A well-executed, low budget internet promotion for photographer Jason Perkins – featuring him shooting promotional stills for a Tattoo Convention.
We’re going to see, and be involved in, a lot more of this type of product/service promotion. It’s quick, cost-effective and, providing production is approached creatively, it’s very much becoming an integral marketing tool.
The filmic style of this Tattoo promotion needed to reflect the style of the photographer - after all, it’s about Jason Perkins, not tattoos - and had to carry no bias or judgement. Love or hate them, tattoos are a personal statement and Jason’s approach was very much to reflect this. The director Suki Singh was sensitive to this directive and captured the mood brilliantly.
Production involved a one day shoot on 5D Mark II and was edited and graded in Final Cut Pro.
He has an exceptional eye and a passion for directing, so much of his success is due to repeat business where he is asked for again and again.
