Director / DOP Robert Payton

Before the transition to directing commercials, Rob spent 15 years as a TV director at the BBC, and as a commercials director of photography across Europe. His client list includes Leo Burnett, BBDO, and JWT to name but a few. Having built up excellent relationships with brand managers, and agency creatives alike, the transition to directing has been a logical and successful one.

His growing reputation for food and tabletop cinematography coupled with a technical background, and a patient and unflappable temperament make him a unique addition to our roster.

Filippo Berio shot by Director/DOP Rob Payton is a timeless example of a good, simple idea beautifully executed with an appropriately joyful soundtrack.

So much of its success lies in the lighting/shooting and styling; it’s an exuberant celebration of the product – olive oil. The food looks perfect, Rob’s lighting is seductive and the use of different camera speeds engages the audience in this single celebration. All this as the music lifts ones spirits too.

We love doing these easily controlled small studio shoots where we can really focus on the key elements, without a huge budget. And if we can run to a great soundtrack too – either scored or licensed – then little gems like this one are easily achievable.
